Beltane is the threshold between spring and summer. The sap rises, the days lengthen, bodies (human and earth alike) awaken. The veil is thin, much like at Samhain, but instead of spirits descending, life force ascends. Beltane’s history is storybook and wild at once, wreathed in Greenwood marriages, sacred unions, ecstatic rites, and the enthronement of the May Queen and Green Man as living embodiments of desire and life energy.

It’s no coincidence that, in nearly every thread of tradition, Beltane is tied to sexuality, fertility, and earthy pleasure. “When we attune to that energy, when we work with our own erotic charge, we’re not just doing sex magick—we’re stepping into the most ancient of spells: creation itself.”

Dispelling Myths: Sex Magick is for Everyone

Far from being a reserved or niche practice, sex magick is an accessible, grounded way to work with your own energy. It’s not about how you look, performing for anyone, or waiting for the “right moment” (full moons or fancy tantric retreats).

Sex magick at its core is energy, focus, and intention. It’s your body saying I am alive—and then choosing to direct that aliveness into magick.

You Don’t Need:

• A partner (solo sex magick is powerful and valid)

• Orgasm as a “must” (the energy raised, not the act itself, is the spell)

• Anyone else’s definition of spirituality

You can use oils, touch, voice, or simply bask quietly in your own energy. The magick is in the intention and the sensory experience, not the ritual’s complexity.

Three Ways to Practise Beltane Sex Magick

1. Manifestation Through Orgasm

Set a clear, specific intention: one sentence, one vision. As you self-pleasure or share pleasure with a partner, build energy with that intention in mind. At the peak, hold the intention in your mind and body, then send the energy out with your release—visualise it radiating into the earth, air, or energetic field.

2. Crystal Charging

Choose a crystal aligned with your intent (clear quartz, carnelian, garnet, or citrine are wonderful for sexual energy). Keep it close during your ritual, allowing it to “witness” your energy. Afterwards, charge it by resting it on your sacral chakra, anointing it, or placing it on your altar with your written intention beneath. This crystal becomes a magnetised talisman for your desires.

3. Beltane Binding Spell

Write two aspects you wish to unite (yourself and another, two desires, or twin parts of yourself) on separate slips of paper. In a ritual — simple as lighting a candle, or as elaborate as you like—bind the papers with red or black thread. Speak your desire aloud. You may bury the bundle, burn it in a Beltane fire, or keep it on your altar. This act of binding becomes a powerful spell for union and manifestation.
